My wife and I have been to Mallorca twice. This Spanish island in the Mediterranean is full of fun, beauty, culture and history, but it also is home to a wide variety of artisans. On our first trip there, we stopped by a local glass blower’s shop to see what trinkets we could take home with us, and were surprised to get to see the artisans at work. The lighting in their old, stone workshop was perfect that day and created a glow on everything it touched. I loved the contrasts and have wanted to paint the scene ever since. This piece is my interpretation of what we saw that day.
