My Passion Is

Bringing Life to Art

“The goal is to grow and learn and to keep getting better at my craft. If I’m not improving then what’s the point? And that’s what I love about painting…there’s always something new to learn.”

The Saxophonist

This is the third in a series of artisan paintings. The immense talent portrayed here is a friend from my youth, Derrick Edmondson. He just looks cool on his tenor sax, and I couldn’t resist adding him to my artisan series.

The Blacksmith

I love watching a blacksmith create something of beauty with fire and steel and the clanking of a hammer. Some may not view them as artists, but I think a blacksmith fits in well with my artisan series of paintings. This is actually a self-portrait, although I’ve never personally done any smithing.

My Recent Artworks

These are three of my recent works. All are images that I have wanted to paint for some time. I hope they say something to you. If they do, please drop me a message and let me know.

The Glass Blower

This painting is of a scene I came across on the island of Mallorca some years ago. These glass blowers were glowing in the mid-day sun that peeked through windows above their workshop. I have wanted to paint these artisans and this beautiful light ever since.

Meet the Artist

I grew up in central Texas and loved art from an early age. I was encouraged to explore, but in my youth I didn’t have enough patience to produce quality art.

After studying engineering and later earning an MBA, I spent 28 years trying to justify that education, only to find that the more I tried, the less I wanted to spend my life making anything other than art.

In 1997 I married my sweetheart, who happened to be German, and five years later I moved with her to Germany. In 2016, with my industry in a slump, the opportunity to make a change arrived and I decided to turn what had been a growing hobby into a full-time gig. And, with the wisdom and patience that age has brought, I’ve found my groove and love creating things of beauty.

Now, I paint commissions and original paintings on archival stretched canvas and wooden panels using the best quality acrylic and oil paints. My subjects in the past have usually involved landscapes and wildlife, but capturing people and their infinite expressions has become my primary focus.

If you’re interested, have a look at my originals page or check out some of the commissions I’ve produced. Maybe there’s something I can do for you.
