While lodging near the Waterberg Plateau on a trip to Namibia, I fell in love with the African Oryx. When I got home, I painted a scene from my visit, On Waterberg. I later painted Oryx Savannah to place a greater emphasis on the Oryx and on its beauty in the early evening sun.
